Dalhousie Railway station
History
The town of Dalhousie was established in 1854 as a summer resort for British officials. The beauty and pleasant climate of the area attracted the attention of Lord Dalhousie, the British governor in the 19th century, and was named after the town. In order to develop the area as a vast retreat, the British acquired five hills from the ruler of Changba, namely Bangorra, Bakrotta, Tara (also known as Motitiba), Porter Rennes, and Katarag. In return, Britain proposed to reduce the tax levied on the ruler. Gradually, the city became a popular destination for people to escape the sweltering summer heat in India, and soldiers, military officers, and British people began to visit the place in large numbers. Much later, in 1966, Dalhousie became a department of Himachal Pradesh in northern India.

Dalhousie is a popular hill station in Himachal Pradesh. Lying in the Dhauladhar range the town enjoys beautiful views of the snow-capped peaks of the Dhauladhar Mountains and is famous for its meadows, dense forests, and waterfalls. Dalhousie Tourism has a lot to offer to the tourists due to its vast blend of places to see. The major attractions in Dalhousie are Kalatop Wildlife, Diankund Peak, Bakrota hills, Panchpula, and many more. Besides these spots, the mesmerizing chamba valley offers spectacular views and spots to travelers. St.John Church, an old heritage landmark is another must-see place in Dalhousie. There is a famous Laxmi Narayan Temple for the spiritual ones. Tibetan Market is a place to be for the shoppers. While in Dalhousie the must-try authentic Himachali dishes are Madra from chickpeas, mutton and stuffed Sidu, Himachali Thali, and Bhey Lotus Stems.
