History

The Pench National Park is a national park in the state of Madhya Pradesh of India, founded in 1975. The park is named after river Pench passing from north to south of the park. The park borders Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. The park was declared a sanctuary in 1965 and later enlisted as a Tiger Reserve in 1992. The National Park is composed of dead-ended forests and lots of fauna and flora, including tigers, various types of deer, and birds. In 2011, the park won the "best management award". The park is mentioned as a setting in the novel Jungle Book of Rudyard Kipling.

Facts & Culture

Pench is one of the topmost destinations for wildlife tourism in Madhya Pradesh, albeit a little less famous and popular than the other star attractions of the Madhya Pradesh tiger circuit- Kanha and Bandhavgarh. The park is also home to Royal Bengak Tiger and offers great spotting possibilities , especially in the summers. The national park consists of dry deciduous forests and much fauna and flora including tigers, various types of deer, and birds. The park with its rocky trails and varied flora and fauna attracts a a large number of visitors every year. The park houses a number of luxury resorts, cottages, and lodges. Besides the Safari in the park, the activities like bird watching , boating, Elephant safari, nature trails and cycling. Generally the safari is best enjoyed in the months of October to March.
