History

The city is proud of its 5000 years of history. There is evidence of life that existed in the megalithic era. The first written record of the Nagpur settlement comes from the tertiary copper plate in the Walda area. In 1853 Great Britain took control and in 1861 the economic city became the capital of the central state. After the independence of India, Nagpur became part of Maharashtra until 1956, now 1956.
