History
Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti was a Persian who settled in the Lahore region, which still belonged to India at that time. Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti Tomb is nearly 114 years old since the saint died in the early 13th century and was believed to have immeasurable spiritual power. The white marble dome of Chishti Shrine seen today was built in 1532. This date is engraved in gold on the north wall of Dargah. Besides the saint's tomb, there are eight more tombs of his family in the complex. There are eight entrance gates, several structures in the compound, and two huge cauldrons donated by emperor Akbar and Jehangir. The death anniversary of saint Chishti is celebrated as " Urs" each year. Lakhs of pilgrims attend this gala celebration marked by several festivities and rituals.
